2025 PWS Training Weekends
For the past 6 years the PWS have held an annual Training Weekend at Wyvern Station, Carrathool. The event was established to encourage, educate, and mentor more young people with practical training and professional development relevant to the Sheep and Wool Industry.
The event continues to have a high level of demand with waiting lists each year and an impressive array of passionate young people from across the major sheep producing areas of Australia. While the individual attendee gains a lot from the weekend, the benefits also flow through to their employer and the wider Sheep and Wool industry. In 2024 we were approached by Monaro Farming Systems (MFS), a progressive and passionate agriculture organisation on the Monaro, and were offered the unique opportunity to partner and host a Training Weekend in their region in 2025.
Through word of mouth, and firsthand experience of the positive impacts our Training Weekends have had, the MFS were extremely keen to replicate our Training Weekend on the Monaro and partner with us to provide benefit to more young people. As a result, the PWS Committee are thrilled to announce that for the first time, we will be hosting two Training Weekends in 2025. This has allowed us the opportunity to double our capacity and work to encourage 60 of the next generation of leaders to improve their skill sets and increase their professional networks. We are eager to see both the direct and wider impacts the PWS will have in assisting more young people in 2025.
